Overlooking the original lagoon at the mouth of the Baakens River. Once it was the only stone structure in the district. Named after Frederick, Duke of York, the Fort consists of powder magazine and a guardhouse. Originally it contained eight canons to protect the Bay.
Located along Belmont Terrace in Central, this stone fort was built in 1799 by the British Forces to defend the Baakens River and was named after Frederick, Duke of York. The original eight guns were never fired in anger. Open Daily - Admission Is Free
